　　Certified General Accountant Named to International Accounting Board
　　The International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) has appointed Sylvie Voghel, FCGA, to its Board of Directors. Voghel, of Montreal, is a former Chair and CEO of the Certified General Accountants Association of Canada (CGA-Canada).
 
　　As a global accounting body, IFAC represents more than 2.5 million accountants in 118 countries around the world. Its purpose is to represent the public interest, advance the accounting profession, and contribute to the development of strong economies. The IFAC Board, which is comprised of 21 members from 17 countries, is responsible for setting policy and overseeing the operations of IFAC.
 
　　Voghel is co-owner of Enveloppe Concept Inc., an envelope manufacturing business in suburban Montreal. She has a long record of volunteer service to the CGA Association, including serving as Chair of CGA-Canada in 1999-2000 and as President of the Ordre des CGA du Québec in 1995-96. She has served as a technical advisor to the IFAC Board for the past three years.
 
　　"This appointment is very positive news for CGA-Canada and for Sylvie herself," said Anthony Ariganello, President and Chief Operating Officer of CGA-Canada. "She has dedicated herself to raising the international profile of the CGA designation and, in her new role, will continue to make a strong contribution to IFAC."
 
　　Voghel is one of two Canadians named to the IFAC Board and is appointed for a two-year term.
 
　　"The International Federation of Accountants is leading the efforts to ensure high quality professional standards are in place throughout the world, and is also furthering the convergence of those standards," said Voghel. "CGA-Canada strongly supports IFAC's goals and its stated values of integrity, expertise and transparency."
 
　　CGA-Canada is a professional accounting body, representing more than 58,000 Certified General Accountants and students in Canada and abroad. The Association sets professional standards, develops education programs, publishes professional materials and develops national policy.
