　　As the fiscal year came to a close, most provincial and territorial CGA bodies had either agreed to unify or were pursuing unification discussions under the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) banner. CGA-Canada had recently signed a participation agreement with its national counterpart, CPA Canada, and was in the process of developing an integration agreement. CGA-Canada’s return to unification talks in late April was in step with decisions taken by the vast majority of CGA affiliates in Canada, as well as those operating internationally.
 
　　The decision to support unification of the accounting profession under the CPA credential was some two years in the making, and followed lengthy and far-reaching deliberations. It is, CGA-Canada believes, the right decision — for our members and students, and the clients, organizations, and public we serve. Moreover, the Association is striving to ensure that all CGAs, wherever they reside, can avail themselves of the many benefits and services this new accounting body will have to offer.
