高顿网校小编与您一起分享ACCA新闻资讯(摘自ACCA协会官网):CHINA’S ‘MIDDLE SIX’ BANKS SNAPPING AT STATE-OWNED BEHEMOTHS’ HEELS
Rapidly growing banks are already amongst world’s largest, says new report
A new report which identifies the next 100 businesses in China that are most likely to become global giants in the next three to five years reveals that six up-and-coming Chinese banks are already showing significant growth rates and are increasingly engaged in international markets.
The report, China’s Next 100 Global Giants, published by global accountancy body, ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) and produced by Lancaster University, showed that the six Chinese banks were already in the top 100 biggest banks in the world, but were not yet as large as China’s four major state-owned banks.
Although the full report looked at China’s 100 businesses that were most likely to emerge as global giants in the next decade, ACCA points out that the presence of these six banks carries significant importance.
Ada Leung, head of ACCA China, said: 'These six banks are critical to the other businesses that have been identified as China’s next 100 global giants, because they have tended to fund those types of emerging enterprises, and are dynamic funders of future economic growth.  These six banks are in the world’s 100 largest banks, so they are major financial institutions in their own right.
'These middle six have a growing international presence but are yet to reach the size of China’s huge state banks.'
The six emerging banking giants of China identified in the ACCA report are:
  Industrial Bank
  China CITIC Bank
  China Minsheng Bank
  Shanghai Pudong Development Bank
  Hua Xia Bank
  Ping An Bank
  Recipe for growth
The report points to key, common characteristics shared by these six banks, including a strong business model as well as financial innovation. All six have shown significant growth rates of between 24% and 29% per year consistently over five years.
Professor Andrew Atherton, Professor of Enterprise and deputy vice-chancellor at Lancaster University, UK, said: 'The six banks have grown despite not having dominant domestic market share. Many have minority shareholdings invested in them by non-Chinese institutions, and increasingly are involved in activities outside China. It’s as though they have bypassed the aim of going for domestic dominance and headed for the global stage. They are certainly strong enough to do it.'
Ada Leung added: 'This is certainly a positive trend coming from China’s banking sector. It highlights how sound finances and identifying risks and opportunities is a central ingredient to a successful bank. It’s vital for these banks to continue to seek support and insights from their finance teams as they continue to flourish.'
The analysis looked at not only revenue for the year, but also revenue growth from 2008-2012, as well as domestic dominance and international presence. Business model and strategy was also a factor in scoring the companies for the purposes of the research.
