Commercial paper is an example of a marketable security. U.S. Treasury bills are an example of a marketable security. Short-term marketable securities are highly liquid investments that are used for short-term investments. Such securities will generally have highly liquid markets allowing the security to be sold at a reasonable price very quickly. Although they are marketable, since there is a secondary market for them, convertible bonds (and bonds in general) are usually a longer term investment. Eurodollars are an example of a marketable security.
